The Lasting Impression of Medrick Addison

In a news article today from Triple Pundit, Andrew Newell describes her experiences from this month’s conference of the Business Alliance of Local Living Economies (BALLE).  One of the major highlights she notes: Medrick Addison and his presentation on Evergreen.  In another news piece, this one from Small Business Survival, a different conference attendee walked away with a lasting impression from Medrick as well. Medrick Addison was the second person hired on at the laundry and has since began traveling the country to speak about Evergreen at conferences nationwide.

Medrick’s first conference presentation was in August 2010 at the annual conference of the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives.  If you ask him, he’d tell you it was one of the most stressful experiences of his life because he’d never engaged in any public speaking and was extremely nervous about it.  The lasting applause, standing ovation, and crowd of people afterwards asking for his picture and autograph helped him overcome the stress and nervousness of it all though.

That conference back in 2010 wasn’t the last time Medrick received such a positive response, but he doesn’t let it get to his head.  And as he goes around the country representing he and his fellow worker-owners, he reminds people that “owning your own job is a beautiful thing.”
